Elser, 8-channel acousmatic composition.
In the autumn of 1939, the German carpenter Johann Georg Elser, driven by a desire to prevent further
bloodshed, planned and carried out an elaborate assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler at the
Bürgerbräukeller in Munich. Over the course of two months, Elser spent several nights inside the
Bürgerbräukeller, constructing and placing a bomb near the platform from which the dictator was to
deliver a speech. Hitler unexpectedly ended his address at 9:07 p.m., leaving the building 13 minutes
before Elser’s bomb exploded at 9:20 p.m.
